IS YOUR INSURANCE AGENT GIVING YOUR ASSOCIATION THE ATTENTION IT DESERVES?

HOAs + Condo Association FAQs

  • Typically an association should have the following coverage*:

    • General Liability

    • Property Insurance

    • D&O

    • Auto- through CGL if no autos owned

    • Worker's compensation- if any

    • Flood if applicable

    • Crime

*not all coverages are applicable in all cases

  • Insurance companies have to follow certain guidelines and laws regarding the timing of your renewal. Typically they have to send your agent the renewal 30-45 days out from your effective date. Never accept an agent who hands you your insurance terms the day before. It is unprofessional and a detriment to the HOA.

  • Switching insurance agents for association policies typically requires choosing a new agent to handle the policy transfer process. This change involves selecting a different agent who will be responsible for managing the policies associated with the organization.

  • Your agent should be attending at least one association meeting a year. They should be responsive in all communication and provide various quote options for renewal, or at least for comparison purposes. They should be most importantly communicative of market changes and conditions.

  • Here at Atesa Risk Advisors we strive to provide a clear and concise process your association can rely on:

    • Clear renewal details with different pricing options/alternatives

    • Begin the renewal process up to 90 days in advance to ensure the board has plenty of time to make an informed decision
